Description of evaluation system 
Virginia's guidelines for the state's model principal evaluation system include suggested sources of evidence of a principal's performance on the standards including a self-evaluation, observations, school visits, a portfolio, staff surveys, and goal setting. The model also recommends that 40% of a principal evaluation be based on student academic progress and the other remaining standards weighted equally at 10%.
