The Massachusetts Model System for Educator Evaluation
Description of evaluation system 
The evaluation includes a self-assessment, a goal related to student learning, a professional practice goal, and two to four additional goals related to school priorities. The principal collects evidence of performance for each goal.
Frequency of performance evaluation 
Model is designed to as a one-year cycle but districts may use up to a two-year cycle with formative assessment occuring at the end of year 1.

Principal preparation program accreditation or approval standards 
Massachusetts has six program approval standards: Continuous Improvement; Collaboration and Program Impact; Capacity; Subject Matter Knowledge; Professional Standards for Administrative Leadership; and Educator Effectiveness. Massachusetts also has an agreement with CAEP and their state standards must be met for national accreditation.
Description of program approval review process 
Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (ESE) conducts program reviews for programs seeking state approval. ESE's review process includes an offsite document review, 3-day on-site visit, and review of data such as program completion rate, assessment data, survey results, employment data, and educator evaluation data. Programs are not required to seek national accreditation through CAEP but may do so.
