Description of evaluation system 
Per statute RS 17: 3881-3902, the evaluation shall be composed of two parts. Fifty percent of the evaluation shall be composed of applicable measure(s) of growth in student learning. The remaining fifty percent shall be based on qualitative assessment of administrator performance. In addition to the evaluation system, the Principal Guidebook outlines key expectations for principals including--making workforce decisions, anticipating and meeting staffing needs, preparing teacher candidates to be successful in the classroom, identify mentor teachers, review and select high quality curricula, set up collaboration structures and policies, define student learning expectations, monitor student learning and provide feedback, and support teachers to improve.

Description of program approval review process 
The Louisiana Department of Education (LDE) and, when applicable, the Board of Regents (BOR) staff shall review proposals for initial approval. A recommendation will then be made to the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) and, when applicable, BOR, for initial approval. The LDE will utilize standard-aligned evaluation tools to conduct qualitative assessments of teacher and/or educational leader proposals to make initial approval recommendations. Upon approval, the teacher or educational leader preparation program may begin admitting candidates to the program and recommending program completers for certification.
Minimum years of educational experience or degree required by candidate for acceptance to principal preparation program 
3 years of K-12 teaching experience and possess a baccalaureate degree from an accredited university; candidates must also hold or be eligible to hold a valid Louisiana Type B or Level 2 teaching certificate or have a comparable level out-of-state teaching certificate
